It was the most sought after treasure at the Easter Egg Hunt: the Golden Egg. Whoever found the Golden Egg would receive, not just a bag of candy, but a special gift bag of prizes, games, and crafts!
That reminds me of the much greater Treasure that came to us on that golden Easter morning long ago. Because of Christ’s resurrection, we who trust Him as Savior and Lord have not only the gift of eternal life, but also something more. God’s light shines in our hearts so we can know His glory that is seen in the face of Christ. “We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us” (2 Corinthians 4:6-8). That same power that raised Christ from the dead is available to you and me! (Ephesians 1:19-20).
Because Christ lives in us, His power is available to us for whatever task He gives us. It’s especially evident when we face challenges that are beyond our natural capabilities, when we lack the wisdom or resources we need. As we trust in Him in our weakness, the Treasure of His power gets us through where we surely would have failed without Him. His strength and wisdom are treasures available for the asking.
Through our God-centered prayers, we have the golden opportunity of seeing His power transform lives, even whole families and communities! God can do anything! Could we be missing out on some miracles because we give up on people, on circumstances? God never gives up on anyone, and neither should we.
Let’s pray for eyes of faith to see what God sees and the perseverance to pray for what He wants to do.
