More people are praying for Ukraine than ever before! Several of the following prayers have already been answered. God does amazing things when we pray specific prayers that line up with His Word.
The following prayers are based directly on verses from the Bible. God listens to every prayer we pray.
Prayers For the People of Ukraine
Father God, King of all the earth, You are greatly exalted! We humbly kneel before You (Psalm 47:7,9). We come to You on behalf of the people of Ukraine. You have promised to be gracious when we cry for help, because You are a God of justice who rises to show us compassion (Isaiah 30:18,19). Please help the Ukrainians to trust in You and not be afraid (Psalm 56:11). May You be their fortress, their shield and rock in whom they take refuge, their salvation and stronghold (Psalm 18:2). Through You may they push back their enemies (Psalm 44:5). Help them to be strong and courageous, for You are with them wherever they go (Joshua 1:9). Let all who take refuge in You be glad and sing for joy (Psalm 5:11).
Gracious God, may the people of Ukraine be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer (Romans 12:12). In these difficult times, help them to share with those in need, to be devoted to one another in love, keeping their spiritual fervor as they serve You (Romans 12:10-13).
We ask that they be guided by the words of Scripture: “Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Bless those who persecute you. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. If your enemy is hungry, feed him. Overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:9,14-21).
For the Leaders of Nations
Great and Mighty God, You reign over the nations (Psalm 47:8). The hearts of kings are in Your hand, to direct them wherever You please (Proverbs 21:1). May they heed Your warning to be wise and to serve You with fear (Psalm 2:10,11). May they turn from evil and pursue peace instead (Psalm 34:14).
In our world Lord, would You reveal the godlessness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness? Would you expose their fruitless deeds of darkness? (Romans 1:18, Ephesians 5:11). Please confuse the wicked and confound their speech (Ps. 55:9). Save us all from lying lips and deceitful tongues (Psalm 120:2). Righteous God, we ask that You bring an end to the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure (Psalm 7:9).
For Global Intercessors
We, Your people, called by Your name, now humbly come to You, seeking Your face (2 Chron. 7:14). In this spiritual battle, while some trust in the “chariots and horses” of armies, we trust in the name of the Lord our God (Psalm 20:7). Father God, since Your thoughts and ways are higher than ours, we ask for Your wisdom in knowing how to pray (Isaiah 55:9, James 1:5). We are grateful that You have promised to be the sure foundation for our times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom. The key to this treasure is that we fear You (Isaiah 33:6). Help us to be alert and keep on praying for all the saints, to carry each other’s burdens and in this way fulfill the law of Christ (Ephesians 6:18, Galatians 6:2). We seek to spread Your truth that sets people free (John 8:32). May Your purposes prevail (Proverbs 19:21) Our desire is to see You exalted among the nations and in all the earth! (Psalm 46:10).
For Global Harvest and Awakening
God our Savior, we know that You want all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). We see that the fields of this world are ripe for the harvest of souls (John 4:35). Jesus, we pray as You told us, to ask the Lord of the harvest to send more workers into the fields to pray and share the good news of the kingdom to fearful and needy people (Matthew 9:38). Holy Spirit, please open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins (Acts 26:18).
Lord God, we ask that You send times of refreshing to us. Will You not revive us again, that Your people may rejoice in You? (Acts 3:19, Psalm 85:6). May Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10). In the powerful Name of Jesus we pray, AMEN!
