Living Water

Posted on September 17, 2019May 31, 2021 by JoAnne Jones

I learned the value of drinking water when I used to compete in road races. At the end of an exhausting run, the only thing that really tasted good was water—not replacement drinks or juice—just plain water. It was so refreshing and what my body really needed. Many beverages such as soda or tea actually draw water out of our body instead of replenishing it.

I came upon the following true account unexpectedly twice in the same day. When Jesus met a Samaritan woman at a well, He told her, “Whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14). He knew that this woman was really looking for something to satisfy her spiritual thirst for refreshment in her inner soul. She had not found happiness in the lifestyle she was living. She was looking for the day when the promised Messiah would come and explain everything she really wanted to know. Imagine her great surprise when Jesus told her, “I who speak to you am He.”

Wait no longer! You’re looking Him right in the eye! I’m offering you what you’ve always wanted deep down.

Are you thirsty for authentic truth in this world of fake news? Look no further. Jesus offers you new and refreshing life. And unlike the unsatisfying beverages served up by this world, His living water continues to quench our longings.
