On Easter Sunday, the choir at Copper Hill Church performed an original sacred composition for choir by JoAnne D, Jones. Titled “That Same Power” the four part SATB anthem amplifies the theme of Ephesians 1:19 where Paul tells us that God’s “incomparably great power for us who believe” is “the same mighty strength that” He used in raising Christ from the dead. The piece is uniquely contemporary in that it uses an interplay of rhythmic spoken parts and vocal sections to accomplish the writer’s purposes. Mrs. Jones also arranged and produced the background music for the choir song and ably directed the choir in learning and performing the number. The anthem was originally written in 2007. This was its first presentation in CT.
